There was once a rabbi who was known for his
ability to read men's minds and know their thoughts. A boy went to see him and said: "Rabbi, I have a butterfly in my hand.
Is it alive or dead?" And to himself he thought 'If he says it's dead, I'll open my hand and let it fly away, on high; if
he says it's alive, I'll quickly crush it and show him that it's dead'. Then the boy repeated his question: "Rabbi, I have
a butterfly in my hand; is it alive or dead?" The rabbi looked into the boy's eyes and answered calmy: "As you like, my boy, as you like."
